Immersion Program
An introductory experiential learning program designed exclusively for Senior High School (SHS) students through guided laboratory visits, educational demonstrations, and age-appropriate exposure to algal science.
Who may apply
This program is intended for Grade 11 and Grade 12 SHS students from public and private schools. Applications may be submitted by individual students or through official school-coordinated batches.
College and university students are not eligible for this program. College learners should apply through the Internship Program.
Program focus
The immersion experience emphasizes educational visits, laboratory exposure, and introductory research appreciation suitable for SHS participants.
- Guided tour of the ADB Laboratory and introduction to algal research facilities
- Demonstration of basic microscopy, specimen handling, and culture observation
- Educational sessions on microalgae diversity, ecology, and everyday applications
- Interactive activities on algae identification, sampling concepts, and environmental awareness
- Experiential learning journal or reflection output suitable for SHS academic requirements
Requirements
- Currently enrolled Senior High School (SHS) student in Grade 11 or Grade 12
- Official request or endorsement from the school principal or strand coordinator
- Parent or guardian consent form for laboratory visit and educational exposure
- Valid school ID and list of participating students if applying as a group
- Compliance with laboratory dress code, safety rules, and supervised activity guidelines
- Participation limited to introductory and observational activities appropriate for SHS learners
