Internship Program
A structured laboratory internship for undergraduate and graduate college students seeking hands-on training in microalgae research, taxonomy, culture techniques, and bioresource management at the CLSU ADB Laboratory.
Who may apply
This program is exclusively for college students—including undergraduate and graduate levels—from universities and colleges offering biology, microbiology, environmental science, agriculture, fisheries, biotechnology, and related programs.
Senior High School students are not eligible for this program. SHS learners should apply through the separate Immersion Program.
Program focus
Interns participate in supervised research and laboratory training aligned with algal diversity studies, specimen processing, culture maintenance, and scientific documentation.
- Hands-on training in microalgae isolation, culture maintenance, and microscopy
- Participation in taxonomic identification and specimen documentation workflows
- Exposure to database encoding, bioresource cataloguing, and research data management
- Assistance in laboratory assays, field sampling support, and literature review
- Completion of a supervised research output, logbook, or final internship report
Requirements
- Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at a recognized college or university
- Minimum general weighted average of 2.0 or equivalent, or good academic standing
- Endorsement letter from the college dean, program chair, or research adviser
- Valid student ID and updated curriculum vitae or resume
- Willingness to complete laboratory safety orientation and research ethics briefing
- Commitment to a minimum internship duration as approved by the ADB Laboratory
